Solo Travel Doesn’t Mean You Have to be Alone!
Published Wednesday, May 27th 2015There are tons of singles out there! I know, I’m one of them. We still like to go places and experience new things, and it isn’t always possible to buddy up. Most travel pricing is based on two people in the room or in the stateroom. The whole two by two thing works for couples and families, but what about the rest of us?
Fear not! You, my solo friend, can also travel to exciting new places and enjoy fantastic experiences without having to pay for your “invisible” friend.
All across the travel industry, from guided travel to cruises, vendors are embracing solo travelers. There are cruise lines that offer special solo staterooms. Some even offer a lounge just for their passengers that are traveling by themselves. This gives you a chance, if you wish, to build friendships that will help you enjoy the experience.
Most major guided travel vendors offer a number of itineraries and dates throughout the year where they wave the single supplement. Some offer to buddy you up on certain tours, and if they can’t find a roommate for you, you do not have to pay double. Tour guides go out of their way to make sure that solo travelers feel included, and really, so do the other guests.
River cruise vendors also offer a variety of itineraries, all over the world, where solo travelers are not penalized for traveling alone with waived single supplements. These are great experiences for singles, as the ships are small and intimate. It is easy to bond with fellow passengers and have the opportunity to socialize at meals and on shore excursions.
Vendors are also offering sales throughout the year on reduced single supplements. There are many ways to skin this cat without paying double for your travel experience.
The destinations for solo travel are practically endless. For your part, you do need to be flexible on dates of travel and sometimes flexible on destinations, if you want to enjoy the single rates. But let’s just say you have three places you really want to experience over the next six year’s. You plan on traveling alone. You aren’t tied to summer only vacations because of the kid’s school year. After all, you’re on your own. Contact your travel agent. Give them your wish list. Any agent worth their salt will be able to watch for the right itinerary and get you to Paris on a river cruise, touring South America or cruising the Caribbean without all the extra charges.
Memories of a lifetime, an opportunity to make new friends, and you can travel as a single affordably. What are you waiting for my friend? It’s all out there waiting for you!
