Thanksgiving Cruises? Yes, Thank You
Published Wednesday, October 28th 2015You want family, the fantastic meal and not have to do any of the work this Thanksgiving? There is still time and space. Why not book a cruise and let the cruise line wait on you and your family while you just focus on reconnecting with each other? Here are just a few examples of the Thanksgiving Holiday on the high seas.
Princess Cruises: Leave the cooking to Princess, and enjoy a traditional holiday feast complete with all the trimmings. Enjoy autumn décor, turkey carving demonstrations and fun & festive events including an optional Turkey Calling Contest, trivia games and pumpkin themed Jr. Chef@Sea for the kids! Be sure to take part in Tree of Thanks, a Princess tradition where guests add special messages to the tree which is displayed in the ship's atrium. And what would Thanksgiving be without football — you can watch the games on Movies Under the Stars® outdoor big screen.
Disney Cruise Line: Feast on a bounty of traditional favorites on Thanksgiving Day, including a hearty dinner, football and more. When you celebrate with Disney Cruise Line, you can leave the cooking, cleaning and decorating to them—and enjoy more quality time together with loved ones as you sail from one port to the next. On Thanksgiving Day, Disney ships boast an array of festivities, including: a traditional turkey dinner, Disney Characters in holiday-themed costumes, live football broadcasts via satellite and seasonal décor, including Thanksgiving-inspired towel animals.
American Cruise Lines: American Cruise Lines observes Thanksgiving with three All American cruise celebrations. Cruise the Lower Mississippi River from Memphis to New Orleans, the Historic South & Golden Isles from Jacksonville to Charleston or take a Great Rivers of Florida cruise. Enjoy festive decorations aboard the ship, traditional cuisine and revel in the holiday spirit of each community visited along the way. Celebration festivities include a Thanksgiving Eve reception/cocktail party, a Thanksgiving Day meal, demonstrations of bread cornucopia making, local entertainment and guest speakers and autumn décor throughout the ships. American Cruise Lines will continue its annual "Give-Back" program this holiday season. For each ticket sold on their Thanksgiving cruises, they donate $50 to the Connecticut Food Bank.
This is a small sample of what goes on during Thanksgiving on a cruise ship. What doesn’t happen is you don’t cook, clean, drive for hours or, really, do anything you don’t want to do. What a great way for families to share Thanksgiving!
